ESOS - We can provide your Lead Assessor
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for large organisations in the UK. It requires qualifying businesses to assess their energy use and identify opportunities to reduce consumption, costs and carbon emissions.
Multi-academy trusts providing state-funded education are exempt from the mandatory requirement to produce an ESOS report - but it might well be worthwhile in order to examine energy cost savings.
Independent schools that meet the large organisation threshold are required to comply with ESOS requirements.
Colleges and Universities that receive funding via student loans etc are generally required to comply with ESOS regulations.
We don't just work with UK education. Any company is welcome to get in touch for our ESOS Lead Assessor services
ESOS – What Is It and Why Is It Important?
The Role of the Lead Assessor:
Martin at Clean Green Innovation is an experienced Lead Assessor. The ESOS Lead Assessor is responsible for guiding an organisation through the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) assessment process and ensuring it meets its legal obligations. We review the organisation’s energy consumption, identify significant areas of energy use and assess opportunities for improving energy efficiency and reducing costs. The Lead Assessor also oversees the preparation and quality of the ESOS assessment, ensuring that the required information is accurate, complete and compliant with the scheme’s requirements. Our expertise provides businesses with practical recommendations that can support both regulatory compliance and long-term energy and carbon reduction.

Why is ESOS important?
ESOS is important because it can help businesses:
Reduce energy costs by identifying practical energy-saving opportunities.
Lower carbon emissions and support corporate sustainability objectives.
Improve energy efficiency across buildings, equipment, processes and transport.
Identify potential investments with financial as well as environmental benefits.
Meet a legal requirement and avoid potential enforcement action for non-compliance.
In short, ESOS is not simply a compliance exercise. A well-managed assessment can give businesses a clear picture of where energy is being used and where improvements could deliver the greatest financial and environmental returns.
